MicroB3 Biodiversity, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology The EU 7FP project Micro B3 (Biodiversity, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology) will develop innovative bioinformatic approaches and a legal framework to make large-scale data on marine viral, bacterial, archaeal and protists genomes and metagenomes accessible for marine ecosystems biology and to define new targets for biotechnological applications.


SILVA rRNA database project provides comprehensive, quality checked and regularly updated databases of aligned small (16S/18S, SSU) and large subunit (23S/28S, LSU) ribosomal RNA (rRNA) sequences for all three domains of life (Bacteria, Archaea and Eukarya).


Genomic Standards Consortium (GSC) is an international, community-driven effort to implement new genomic standards, optimize the capture and exchange of metadata, and harmonize the collection and analysis of metadata across a wider genomics community.


Genomic Contextual Data Markup Language (GCDML) is a core project of the GSC that implements the "Minimum Information about a Genome Sequence" (MIGS) and "Minimum Information about a Metagenome Sequence" (MIMS) specifications. sequence data is compliant with GCDML standards.

CAMERA: Community Cyberinfrastructure for Advanced Microbial Ecology Research and Analysis: The CAMERA project hosts a sequence and meta-data repository and bioinformatics resources with special focus on the analysis of marine microbial and viral metagenomes. Data collected by the J. Craig Venter Institute's "Sorcerer II" Global Ocean Sampling (GOS) expedition is publicly available from CAMERA.

Genomic Resource for Marine Roseobacters provides a centralized web resource, including Gbrowse for Roseobacter genomes, precomputed BLAST results (Roseobacter genomes compared to other bacterial genomes), and other useful resources for genomic analysis of marine roseobacters.

The Genome Database for Cyanobacteria provides easy access to sequences and annotation data of cyanobacterial genomes.

The Marine Genomics Project serves as a clearing-house for genomic and transcriptomic data of marine organisms. This project includes exclusively eukaryotic marine genome projects.
